OPEN CALLS FOR ABSTRACT

The Asian Confederation of Orthopedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (ACOMPT) Congress is currently accepting scientific abstracts for the upcoming conference on March 7-9, 2025. The ACOMPT Research Committee welcomes various types of research, such as abstracts of Case Reports (including Case Series) and Research Reports (original quantitative or qualitative studies and systematic reviews).

The Research Committee is interested in receiving research that evaluates intervention strategies using randomized controlled trials. It is strongly recommended to submit abstracts for innovative Orthopedic Manipulative Physical Therapy (OMPT) education, assessment, and management techniques for musculoskeletal conditions and health services topics related to OMPT. Topics related to spinal and/or peripheral joint thrust and/or non-thrust manipulation, dry needling, soft tissue techniques, motor control, or pain science interventions will be given priority.

Please note that the Research Committee will only review and score abstracts of projects that have already been completed. However, if a larger-scale project has preliminary data available, it can still be accepted if the abstract fully describes the data analysis and results. The abstracts should focus on scientific research or non-commercial content related to clinical practice. Please note that advertisements will not be accepted.

The conference offers two presentation formats for research studies:

1) Case Report / Case Series - This format includes presenting a case report or series, characterized by their rarity. The report must include manual therapy used in the diagnosis or management. The unique and original presentations will be given priority.

2) Research Report - This format includes original quantitative or qualitative research and systematic reviews. Quantitative research may include experimental (randomized, quasi, or single-system) or observational (cohort, case-control, or cross-sectional). Abstracts for research studies, including pilot studies, must have final data analysis for the project being presented, even if it's a pilot study.

PRESENTATION: The platform sessions, also known as "Research Platform Presentations," will have a strict time limit of 12 minutes, and presenters will only be allowed to use 10 slides for their presentation, including the title, reference, and acknowledgment slide (if any). Each presentation will be followed by a 5-minute Q&A session, making the total presentation time no more than 20 minutes. The poster sessions, on the other hand, will be displayed on poster boards and presented during the conference.

PUBLICATION: The accepted abstracts will be published in a supplemental format with the new Asian Journal of Physical Therapy (an impartial journal dedicated to physical therapy research from Asia and aspiring physical therapy authors from across the globe, free of restrictions). Please ensure that your abstract submission does not exceed 450 words. Incomplete submissions or those that exceed the word limit will not be reviewed and will be rejected. Please note that although references are not mandatory within the abstract, all final presentations are expected to be evidence-based and appropriately referenced. If you are presenting a poster, please include a minimum of three and a maximum of five references on the poster.

STUDENT AUTHORS: Students are obligated to furnish the name of their Physical Therapy Program along with a minimum of one mentor's name. Additionally, it is mandatory to include the mentor's name in the author list of the abstract submission.

AWARDS: The conference will recognize the highest-quality platform presentation with the Best Platform Presentation Award and the highest-quality poster presentation with the Best Poster Presentation Award. Both awards will be formally presented on the last day of the conference.
